"I am truly grateful for the experiences I have had at Stat Staff including the professional ear of David Theobald and Kathy when needed, the compassion when I became ill this spring, the little gifts and cards, and for just being an awesome company to work for... a hard act to follow when it comes to employers!  Stat Staff feels more like family than an employer and I feel like I really do matter."

  • You will need a valid nursing license.
  • You must have a minimum of 1-year experience in the specialty of interest.
  • Travel experience isn’t required for all facilities/contracts but it is recommended.
Why should I work for Stat Staff Professionals instead of another staffing agency?

Typically contracts last 8-13 weeks but can be flexible depending on the needs of the facility. Our contracts have guaranteed hours for our Caregivers.

If a contract is a bit too structured-we also offer per diem opportunities at many facilities.  This allows a caregiver to pick and choose when they want to work based on the needs of a facility.  There are no guaranteed hours associated with per diem opportunities.

When and how will I be paid?

For all employees, pay is weekly, every Friday, via direct deposit (unless a check is requested).

Do you offer temp-to-perm positions?

Typically, all positions/contracts are temporary. However, some facilities do have temp-to-perm contracts available.

How many hours a week do Stat Staff nurses work?

All contracts have guaranteed hours, usually 36 or 40 hours per week.

Travel Nursing

What is a travel nurse?

A travel nurse is a contracted employee who travels to various facilities to work but is employed by Stat Staff Professionals.

Travel nurses enjoy flexible assignments and the opportunity to work in diverse locations across the United States.

How long does it take to get a travel nursing job?

This varies case by case, but on average, from the date of application to the first day of the contract is 30 days.

Do travel nurses pay taxes?
  • Yes, taxes are paid on the hourly rate.
  • Travel stipends paid to qualified individuals are not considered taxable income.
  • We would always advise you to speak with an Accountant/CPA concerning any tax questions.
What kind of expenses may be covered by a travel stipend?

The travel stipend covers:

  • Lodging
  • Meals
  • Incidentals
Can you be a travel nurse as a new grad?

Unfortunately, to be a travel nurse, we require that you have at least 1 year of experience in your relevant specialty.  We do encourage that you stay in touch and let us know when you have the required experience so we can help you with your travel nursing journey.

How do you get a nursing license in another state?

Each state has different requirements for nursing licenses.  To learn more about how each state works, visit:

What is a walk-through state?

Walk-through states allow a nurse to be issued a temporary license within one hour to one day's time.

This temporary license is used to practice nursing while awaiting permanent licensure to be processed.

These temporary licenses obtained in walk-through states are usually valid for 30 days to six months depending on the state issuing the license.

May I travel with my family and/or pets?

Stat Staff Professionals would never want to separate you from your family and/or pets.

Just make sure that when you're planning to travel, that you look for "pet-friendly" lodging.

Per-Diem Nursing

What is the difference between per-diem and contract nursing?

Per diem nursing gives you the ability to choose how many hours you work per week and a flexible schedule. The hours are not guaranteed so there is a possibility your shift gets canceled although that does not happen often. A contract is full time (36 or 40 hrs per week depending on the specialty) and the hours are guaranteed.

What kind of flexibility does per-diem nursing provide?

Flexibility defines what per-diem nursing is when you work for Stat Staff Professionals. You can be credentialled to work at more than one facility without making a major commitment. You choose your hours, shifts and make your own schedule. Once you build a rapport with the unit and staffing office, you can have direct contact to sign up for shifts and plan your schedule for the week or month ahead. If you are the type of person who likes to take it one day at a time, you can call to find out availability and pick up a shift the same day/night.  Some nurses like per-diem work because of the work-life balance it offers, while others like it because it allows them to gain experience at various hospitals.

How many shifts am I obligated to work if I sign on as a per-diem RN with Stat Staff Professionals?

You are required to work 24 hours per month, which can be made up of 4, 8, or 12-hour shifts depending on your preference and facility needs.

Are benefits provided with per diem?

Per diem nurses are able to participate in our 401k program with an employer match after 90 days of employment regardless of hours worked. When per diem nurses work an average of 30 hours per week they become eligible for full-time benefits which include health insurance, accrued paid time off, tuition and certification reimbursements, free access to United Concierge telemedicine, 401k program, and more.

How do I apply to per-diem positions?

Apply above and you will receive a call from our recruiting team who will walk you through the steps and process. If you have references who respond right away, you can be onboarded within days of applying and start picking up shifts within a few weeks.
